The United Nations passed a resolution deploring the Soviet invasion of Hungary, which had taken place the previous November. The White Sox beat the Yankees 5-2 at Yankee Stadium. The show "Have Gun, Will Travel" began its seven-year run on CBS. Arkansas Governor Orval Faubus met with president Dwight Eisenhower to discuss Eisenhower's concerns over racist reaction to nine African-American students who'd enrolled at Central High School in Little Rock. Shot Fizeau, 1957 | Photo: Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory I find the Joshua trees in the foreground evocative, the mushroom cloud behind them echoing their form in a deceptively softer-seeming fashion. It's Shot Fizeau, detonated at the Nevada Test Site on September 14, 1957.

Here is perhaps my favorite, if that is the right word, image of the above-ground testing era in the southwestern deserts. With this week's anniversary marking a half century since we agreed to stop atmospheric testing, you might be tempted to relegate that era to the distant past. It was an era that gave rise to that ultimate mid-century image of the desert: arid scenery backdropped by a mushroom cloud. It effectively put an end to an era that has since achieved a kind of morbid-tinged camp status, and forever changed our perceptions of the American desert. The treaty banned all nuclear testing in the atmosphere, in outer space, and under water. The treaty went into effect two weeks later. Senate ratified the Partial Nuclear Test Ban Treaty, effectively ending above-ground nuclear tests conducted by the U.S., the U.S.S.R., and the U.K. Today is the anniversary of one of the best things ever to happen to the deserts of the Southwest.

It's around $2.50 a round so we don't us up a lot of ammo.37-kiloton Nevada Test Site weapons text, 1957 | Photo: International Campaign to Abolish Atomic Weapons/Flickr/ Creative Commons License The price of ammunition for this gun is sky high. Farm Girl fight for the 2nd amendment right to keep and bear arms! Here is a video about our backstop for safety. This is not the biggest handgun in the world but it is the largest production gun made. This is the the 1st look at Farm Girl shooting her 50 caliber with shells compared to 9 MM. Some will fly in the face of logic and reason to try to show that they are to only ones who should be shooting the gun. Even still, some of the guys watch an attractive woman in a bikini shooting a gun that they covet and they lose it and start with the insanity. Also there is a 400 foot wide, 14 foot high backstop with no neighbors on the other side. Oh My God! Is that a public road they are aiming at?!!! Read people, read!Īside form the purely disgusting comments that usually get spam filtered, It is entertaining to listen to the juvenile, highly agitated idiots who whine about things they know nothing of, there is actually a video (link below) that explains that this is a farm, and that this is not a public road and it's gated.
